EPA 608 Certification
The EPA requires that anyone who maintains, services, repairs, or disposes of appliances in a manner that could release refrigerants into the atmosphere must be certified. Note that anyone who recovers refrigerant from small appliances intended for disposal does not need to be certified. A small appliance refers to any appliance that is fully manufactured, charged, and hermetically sealed at a factory with five pounds or less of refrigerant.
