About this course
Become an HVAC Chiller expert with our online course
Intended for:
This course is intended for HVAC technicians with at least one year of field experience or graduates of an HVAC training program. Students are expected to have basic math skills and a basic understanding of HVAC tools (digital gauges and thermometers) and troubleshooting equipment.
Many commercial buildings use chilled water systems for comfort cooling. These chillers come in many different configurations. Small and medium-sized chillers are used in buildings such as schools and medical offices. Large facilities, such as universities, hospitals, and military bases, have central chiller plants that supply chilled water to multiple buildings. This program is designed for advanced-level technicians and building maintenance personnel who are responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of refrigeration systems in commercial buildings.
Maintenance of high-efficiency HVAC systems: central chillers
The purpose of this course is to give maintenance staff an overview of the equipment in their buildings. With this understanding, they will be better able to identify and address service issues when necessary. The course focuses on commercial central chiller systems, providing a basic introduction to the design of the various components used in both large and small commercial installations. The modules then expand on the details of chilled water systems, the required maintenance, and record-keeping to ensure the efficient operation of chiller systems. Recommended prerequisites: You will need a solid working knowledge of HVACR fundamentals before enrolling in this course. The instruction aligns with ACCA’s Quality Installation and the ACCA/ASHRAE Standard 180.
